Marco polo was proud to accomplish this journey. The merchandise starting from the far end of Taklamakan desert, used to change several hands, pass through many countries and travel for months if not years, before reaching the western end of the trail, in Europe. The journey is still fascinating and adventurous although now you can avail the facility of air-conditioned transport for most part of the journey and can stay for overnight in the comfort of a bed. The trail was later used by the Buddhist pilgrims and you will visit numerous sites along the journey. In Pakistan you travel along the Indus river and in China Skirt the border of the great Taklamakan desert.
